How Pricing Works

Pricing is not tied to a single provider. CardVersePro builds a search from the card's year, set, player, card number, insert, parallel, and grade details, then works through sold-comp sources until it finds useful matches.

• Multiple sold-comp sources are tried in parallel, and the most specific match wins.
• Active listings are fetched separately and compared against sold comps.
• The app stores a recommended price plus confidence and source metadata.

Caching

• In-memory pricing cache keeps recent pricing results for about 12 hours.
• Sold-comp snapshots with real data are reused for up to 7 days.
• Empty or no-comp sold results retry sooner, after about 6 hours.

Outlier Handling

When there are enough comps, the pricing engine removes obvious outliers before calculating the median so one bad listing does not distort the card's value.

• Outlier filtering starts once there are at least four comps.
• Flagged outliers stay visible in the sold-comps list for review.
• Median, min/max range, and comp count use the cleaned comp set.

Confidence & Match Quality

Every price comes with a confidence badge so you can tell a well-supported estimate from a rough one at a glance, instead of trusting a single number blind.

• High confidence — 6+ sales, an exact or near-exact search match, averaging less than 45 days old.
• Moderate confidence — 3+ sales, a reasonably specific match, averaging less than 90 days old.
• Low confidence — fewer or older sales, or the search had to broaden beyond an exact match to find any comps at all.
• No comps — nothing matched closely enough to price with.

When an exact search (year + set + player + card number + parallel/insert + grade) doesn't return enough results, the search progressively broadens — dropping the card number, then the parallel/insert, then eventually searching on player name alone as a last resort. A price built from a broadened search is real data, but it's approximating rather than pricing your exact card — that's reflected in a lower confidence badge, not hidden.

The median itself is age-weighted: a sale from last week counts more than one from six months ago, so a card that's recently moved in price isn't stuck showing a stale number just because older sales outnumber newer ones.

For sets in CardVersePro's card catalog, parallel and insert names you enter are checked against that set's official checklist. If what you typed doesn't match anything known for that set, the pricing panel shows a note — the search still runs on exactly what you entered, but that's your signal to double-check for a typo or a nonstandard name before trusting the result.

Fetch Price For One Card

• Right-click a collection row and choose Get Price.
• Or open the edit modal and use the pricing section there.

The sold-comps panel shows comp count, median, min/max range, source, freshness, and the individual matched listings used for the estimate.

Bulk Pricing Pro

1. Select cards from the collection view.
2. Open Get Prices (N) from the bulk actions.
3. Optionally skip cards that already have pricing.
4. Run the batch and review any cards that still need cleaner data.

Dashboard And Signals

Dashboard pricing surfaces depend on cards that already have market-price data. The Market Intelligence and Hold / Sell sections become more useful as more of your collection is priced.

• AI Pre-Grade analyzes card photos for centering, corners, edges, and surface.
