Adding & Editing

Adding & Editing Cards

Four ways to add cards: manual entry, eBay listing import, AI scan, or CSV import. Every card can be fully edited after creation.

Add Card Modal

Click + Add Card in the header to open the entry form. Fields are organized into logical sections:

SectionFields
Card IdentitySport, Year, Manufacturer, Set (cascades), Card #
Athlete & TeamPlayer (autocomplete), Team
Card AttributesParallel, Insert, Numbered (/25, /50, etc.), Quantity
FlagsRC (Rookie Card), Auto, Raw, Graded, 1-Touch, PSA-Rdy
GradingGrader (PSA/BGS/SGC/CSG/HGA), Grade, Cert #
ValueEst. Value ($), Purchase Price, Purchase Date
Storage & NotesBox / Location, Notes
💡Use Arrow keys + Enter in any dropdown to select without touching the mouse. Press Ctrl+Enter (or Cmd+Enter on Mac) to save from anywhere in the form.

Duplicate Detection

As you fill in Player, Year, and Set, CardVersePro automatically checks your collection for matching cards and shows a non-blocking amber warning if any are found.

  • The check runs client-side against your loaded collection — zero network calls, instant
  • If Card # is also entered, the match narrows to the exact card number
  • Each matching card shows: player, year, set, parallel, card number, and grade (if graded)
  • The warning is informational only — you can still save if you're intentionally adding a second copy
â„šī¸The warning appears after a short debounce (600ms) once all three key fields are filled. It disappears automatically if you change the fields to a non-matching combination.

Player Autocomplete

The Player field searches a built-in database of athletes across all supported sports. Start typing — suggestions appear after 1 character.

  • Suggestions are ranked by relevance and are cross-sport (same name, different sport)
  • Selecting a player auto-fills the Sport and Team fields if known
  • Common abbreviations are normalized (e.g. "LBJ" → "LeBron James")
  • You can type a name not in the database — it saves exactly as typed

Form Validation & Hints

The Add and Edit forms catch common entry mistakes in real time — before you hit Save.

FieldValidation
GradeMust use PSA/BGS/SGC format — whole numbers and halves only (9.5 ✓, 9.4 ✗, 9.50 ✗). Validated on blur.
NumberedMust be a print run (99) or serial fraction (25/99). Hint shown below the field. Validated on blur.
Graded flagIf you check 'Graded' but leave the Grader or Grade fields blank, an amber prompt tells you exactly what's missing.
Asking PriceIf you set an asking price more than 50% above the estimated market value, a soft warning appears — a useful sanity check.

Manufacturer & Set Dropdowns

These cascading dropdowns are backed by a database of real card products. Select Manufacturer first — the Set dropdown then filters to only the sets produced by that manufacturer for the selected Sport & Year.

  • Supported brands: Topps, Panini, Bowman, Upper Deck, Fleer, Donruss, Score, and more
  • If your set isn't listed, type it in — the field accepts free text
  • The Parallel dropdown shows official checklist variants for the selected set, including print runs
  • Selecting a serial-numbered parallel (e.g. Gold /10) auto-fills the Numbered field

eBay Listing Import

Paste any eBay listing URL into the import panel in the Add Card modal. CardVersePro scrapes the listing and pre-fills the form automatically.

  1. Open the Import from eBay panel (click the amber bar in the left column)
  2. Paste the eBay URL and click Fetch
  3. Review extracted fields — green dot = from structured aspects, amber dot = parsed from title
  4. Click Use These Details to apply them to the form
  5. Adjust any fields and click Save Card
â„šī¸eBay import works on both active listings and sold listings. The extracted price is saved as the Est. Value. Parse accuracy depends on how well the listing title is formatted.

AI Scan

The AI Scan panel (left column, robot icon) lets you upload or snap a photo of a card and have AI pre-fill the form fields from the image.

  • Reads player, year, manufacturer, set, card number, parallel, grade, and flags from the image
  • Smart merge — only fills fields you haven't already entered manually
  • Confidence score shown — higher confidence fields are more reliable
  • The scanned image is automatically attached as the card photo

Editing a Card

Every field can be edited after a card is saved. Two ways to open the edit form:

  • Right-click a row in the Collection grid → Edit
  • Click a cell directly to edit it inline (enable Inline Edit mode via toolbar More ▾)

The Edit Card modal is identical to Add Card — all sections and fields, plus a photo management panel where you can swap, crop, or remove the card image.

Duplicate Card

Right-click any row → Duplicate Card to create an exact copy (photo excluded). Useful for adding multiple copies or slight variations (different grades, parallels).

💡Enable Edit after duplicate in Settings → General to automatically open the Edit modal on the new card so you can immediately adjust the fields that differ.

Delete a Card

Right-click a row → Delete. A confirmation dialog appears before the card is permanently removed. This action cannot be undone.
